Disbelief leads to rebellion

Whenever we don't believe God in a particular area it will come out as a complaint or attitude or outright rebellion. This is what happened to the people of Israel at the red sea. The Egyptians were coming upon them and were about to attack them and so what did they do? Psalms 106 verse 7 says they "rebelled by the sea the red sea." But how did they rebel? They didn't worship idols and they didn't engage in sexual immorality. They rebelled by complaining and questioning God and Moses. "Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in that the wilderness? Why have you dealt with us to bring us up out of Egypt?" This attitude and complaint earned them the right to be called rebels by the red sea. And this would be the pattern of Israel for many many years to come. Psalms 106:24 says "Then they despise the pleasant land; they did not believe His word but complained in their tents, and did not heed the voice of the Lord." Ag

Anguish and Troubles

Psalms 77 The Psalmist teaches us how life is not always roses, Fruit Loops and chocolate covered strawberries. In his time of troubles where he refused to even be comforted the psalmist wondered where God went. He complain to God and questioned whether God had abandoned mercy and grace and even abandoned his promises. But in the midst of his anguish he forces himself to remember the good "years of the right hand of the Most High. (vs.10) He remembers what God had done for him and the wonders of creation. He also remembers how God saved Israel through Moses and Aaron at the Red Sea. In our times of trials, troubles and misery we also need to sit and remember that God has been good, that He has delivered us before, and that he will deliver us from the current troubles also.

David's thoughts when Threatened

1Sam. 30:6 David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the LORD his God. What was David thinking of? Am I really qualified to do this? Am I really God’s leader for this job? Am I a failure? Then he sought God - He found strength in God, he found new direction from God and He pursued his new task with Zeal, so much so that 200 men could not keep up.
