Emotional Health

I heard Rick Warren say recently:
“All of our human problems come from a failure to understand God’s love.”

If not 100% true, it certainly is close to that. I find that in my life and in dealing with the lives of others, most of our internal struggles (which lead to all kinds of emotional and relational problems) come from not understanding nor grasping the love God has for us.

Paul prayed the following for the church in Ephesus:

I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge — that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
Ephesians 3:17-19

Follow Paul’s line of thinking and prayer. He prayed that the church would be:

· rooted and established in love
· may have power… to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ
· to know this love that surpasses knowledge
· with this one purposed – that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.


When we grasp the width, length, height, and depth of Christ’s love; and when our roots are drinking from the waters of God’s love, and when we know and are filled with His love – then we are filled with the “fullness of God”.

This is the same fullness as being filled with the Spirit whose fruits are love, joy, peace… If I have just these three, I will be a more emotionally stable person.
