Messiah- our sin offering

Isaiah 53 makes the mission of the Messiah clear. He came to die to pay for our sins. Six out of the 12 verses in this chapter tell us that Messiah came to pay for sin.

V.5 - He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him,  and by his stripes we are healed.

V. 6 and the LORD has laid upon him the iniquity of us all.

V. 8 for the transgressions of my people he was stricken.

V. 10 when you make his soul an offering for sin.

V. 11 for he shall bear their iniquities.

V. 12 and he bore the sins of many.

The blessing of the Messiah is that he came to pay for our sins and open the door for eternal life to all who believe.

Bad Shepherds

Do you know what bad shepherds do? They beat their sheep, they neglect the needs of their sheep, they don't even care when the sheep wander off. They are too concerned about themselves to care for their sheep. Now why do I care about shepherds and sheep? Because God compares spiritual leadership with shepherding sheep. In fact before his final ascension Jesus told Peter three times in various ways "Feed my sheep" in John 21. God's Looking for a Few Good Men

As I was reading through Job this morning I began to realize how deep this man's character was. His integrity and uprightness came from the core of his inner being - and he knew it. When his friends misdiagnosed his suffering as a result of his wickedness and secret sins he responded to their verbal accusations by saying: "I will never concede that you are right; I will defend my integrity until I die.
