You're Crazy

Have you ever wanted to say to somebody "You're crazy"?  This happens when someone's perception of reality is so off base that you almost can't believe what you're hearing come out of their mouth. I'm sure that in the case of the priest Ahimelech, he wanted to shout to King Saul "You're crazy".

Then the king sent for the priest Ahimelech son of Ahitub and his father's whole family, who were the priests at Nob, and they all came to the king. Saul said, "Listen now, son of Ahitub." "Yes, my lord," he answered.  Saul said to him, "Why have you conspired against me, you and the son of Jesse, giving him bread and a sword and inquiring of God for him, so that he has rebelled against me and lies in wait for me, as he does today?"  Ahimelech answered the king, "Who of all your servants is as loyal as David, the king's son-in-law, captain of your bodyguard and highly respected in your household?  1 Samuel 22:11-14

Saul's perception of David was that he was a conspirator - that he was out to harm Saul and do evil to him. This was Saul's reality. But Ahimelech was in touch with the true reality.  He says: 1. David is your most loyal man 2. He is a loyal son in law 3. He has the most trusted in job as captain of your bodyguard. 4. Everyone in your family and all your servants highly respect and trust him. In other words King Saul "You're crazy".

Perhaps it would do us all well to check our perceptions against the true reality around us. Especially test them against the reality written in the Word of God.
