True Worship

What is the purest form of worship? Singing Chris Tomlin songs with our hands raised high?

Paul said this about worship:

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God — this is your spiritual act of worship. 2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:1-2

When we offer our "bodies as living sacrifices" and separate them (make them holy) only for God's use, we are in the purest sense worshiping God. Like Abraham offered up Isaac turning him over completely to God (by almost killing him and burning his body) so too we give our bodies completely over to God's use. Thus our bodies are in a state of continual worship as we become "living sacrifices".

We get to that state of continual worship by dumping "the pattern of this world" - its thought patterns and values - and we become "transformed by the renewing" of our minds. This inward transformation occurs as we let God's Word wash our minds from the old way of thinking and the worlds values and fills us with new thoughts and values straight from God's heart.

Armed with God's heart and principles we are "able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing, and perfect will" in every circumstance life throws our way.

Bad Shepherds

Do you know what bad shepherds do? They beat their sheep, they neglect the needs of their sheep, they don't even care when the sheep wander off. They are too concerned about themselves to care for their sheep. Now why do I care about shepherds and sheep? Because God compares spiritual leadership with shepherding sheep. In fact before his final ascension Jesus told Peter three times in various ways "Feed my sheep" in John 21. God's Looking for a Few Good Men

As I was reading through Job this morning I began to realize how deep this man's character was. His integrity and uprightness came from the core of his inner being - and he knew it. When his friends misdiagnosed his suffering as a result of his wickedness and secret sins he responded to their verbal accusations by saying: "I will never concede that you are right; I will defend my integrity until I die.
